The Age of Adz.

The Age of Adz, the last studio album by Sufjan Stevens.
An open LOVE letter to Sufjan's music by Marta Doldán Díaz.

Most of the reviews, if not all, I have read for this album, start talking about The Fifty States Project by Sufjan. People seem to be disappointed and even mad at him because he once said something that apparently is not going to be done. So what? Enjoy what we already have. I am sure most of those moaners would never listen to the fifty albums if they ever were released anyway.

We always expect musicians to create what we want to listen, what we think sounds better, what we believe is what should follow the previous work, when for me, we just have to listen, enjoy, love, hate and decide whether we like it or not, but not to reproach him for he did not make the album we expected.

Maybe The Age of Adz is not as acoustic, mellow, melodic as we wanted it to be but it is amazingly rhythmical, danceable and still very Sufjan.

If you find it hard to start enjoying this gem, watch the video for "too much" first, fell in love with Sufjan and then play the album starting with "I Walked". You will wind up in bed totally absorbed by The Age of Adz's aura, WORD.

Too much video by Sufjan Stevens.
